Will fakes morally corrupt you? The London Evening Standard just posted a very interesting article that gives an answer to that question. You might think that it should not matter whether you buy real designer sunglasses or fake ones or that you might as well buy a knock-off purse instead of paying lots of money for a real designer bag. Because who really cares right? As the article says: "It's not like Stella McCartney is heading to the poor house any time soon."

Well, research has shown that people that buy fake products do it in order to tell themselves and others that they are better than they are. Basically this means that buying a fake is really a shortcut to fooling yourself and others that you are rich and have good taste. >

But there is more. A recent research has shown that buying fakes actually makes people behave unethically. Wearing or carrying knock-offs creates a counterfeit self who lies more and is more mistrustful of others. In order words: wearing or carrying fakes will turn you into a fake person! Yikes! :s

We finally had some excellent weather this weekend. Since it could have been one of the last days of summer, we decided to spend our time outdoors as much as much as possible and to put on a summer outfit. :) I really needed to feel the sun on my skin and I truly hope that fall will not kick in any time soon!

I have a very exciting week ahead! Will be meeting a few very interesting people later this week! Hope to be able to shoot some pics and to tell you more about it later.

On the second day we decided to take it slow. So we did some shopping in St. Germain, paid a visit to the Jardin du Luxembourg and ended our visit at the Musée de la Contrefaçon.

Anyone interested in learning more about counterfeits (fakes) should really pay this museum a visit! The museum was created in 1951 and is managed by the Union des Fabricants, the foremost French anti-counterfeiting association. All the goods on display have been the subject of a court ruling or settlement out of court. You may not be aware of this, but the great majority of these products are infringing trademark rights or copyrights.

We took lots of pictures. Although I have decided to show you only a few fake designer goods, we have also spotted fake car parts, cigarettes, foodstuffs, medicine (such as Viagra) and even pregnancy tests and condoms!

Finally some figures:

Counterfeiting represents 5 to 10% of the world trade.
9,4 million articles seized by the French customs in 2008.
178 million goods seized by EU customs in 2008, 79 million in 2007.
100,000 lost jobs in Europe. 30,000 in France.

Say No To Fake and help to make this a counterfeit-free world.

Paris day 1

Last week we paid a two-day visit to Paris to escape the rain in Holland. I love taking a walk through Paris and enjoying the atmosphere. Paris has a special place in my heart and I can't get enough of that city. We did some shopping on Rue St. Honoré. Checked the stock at Mulberry and did some browsing at Colette. Naturally, I had to pay a visit to Chanel at Rue Cambon. I spotted the cutest classic mini flap in patent leather, but since I'm on a Chanel shopping ban, I had to let this one go.

We ended the afternoon with a visit to the Eiffel tower and couldn't resist taking a funny picture...

Evolution of the Alexa

I still haven't managed to get my hands on the Mulberry Alexa in oak. The suspense is killing me. I'm on a waiting list and hopefully the stores will receive new supplies soon. I even checked with the Mulberry store in Paris and naturally it was sold out there as well.

In the meantime, I visited the Mulberry site just to have a glance at this beauty and found this fun picture showing the evolution of the Alexa.

As you may already know, this bag is named after the British fashion icon Alexa Chung and is 1 part Bayswater, 1 part Elkington and a dash of vintage inspiration. Isn't she gorgeous? I'll let you know when this beauty is mine! :)

Zara September 2010 Lookbook

Zara's webshop is finally online as of today! Unfortunately, they do not deliver to Holland yet. I do hope that will change very soon. Of course, I had to pay a visit to at least see what the webshop is like and it looks great.

I also browsed the rest of the site and saw that Zara has a new September lookbook and had to share a few favorite looks with you. Furthermore, it seems that Zara is also working on a (hard copy) magazine that will be released very soon. Hopefully, I can get my hands on a copy.

Well, as you may have noticed, I am a bit obsessed with Zara lately. I get like that with lots of things. :s It's just that I am trying to cut back on costs and Zara is a great way to keep up-to-date without burning a hole in my pocket! So be prepared to see many more outfits with Zara items in the future! :)

Lanvin new guest designer for H&M

The news is out and confirmed by H&M today. The new guest designer is Lanvin! I love Lanvin and I can't wait until November when the collection will be revealed (on November 2nd) and sold (on November 23rd)!

I'm enjoying a holiday until the end of this week and am even spending less time behind my computer and just try to reload before the madness at work starts again. I need some extra energy for my business trip to Berlin this month. Really looking forward to meeting my trademark friends and colleagues again! :)

I still ow you the pictures we took in Paris and will sort them out tomorrow hopefully so that I can share those with you as well.

For now, here are some pictures we took yesterday when we paid a visit to the beautiful village Kinderdijk with me wearing my beloved new camel coat from Zara. If there's only one item you would like to purchase for Fall make sure it's a camel coat!

I love the simplicity of a basic white shirt! :)

I have been so busy these last couple of days. I went to Paris for a short city break to escape the bad weather in Holland. We stayed in this great arrondissement called St. Germain (6th), with the Jardin du Luxembourg just around the corner. Definitely worth a visit and I am planning to go back soon.

We strolled down the streets of Paris and did some shopping at Rue Saint Honoré (my favorite street in Paris). Will show you some pictures of my trip soon!

We drove back in time for my bff's wedding. It was great. Events like these remind me of what love is really about and even taught me something about the true values of friendship. It reminded me of this group on Facebook called "Don't worry about people in the past, there is a reason they didn't make it to your future". I guess sometimes, this is painfully true...

I am loving the new nail polish colors that Chanel will be launching on 10 September at VOGUE's Fashion night out. Like last year this will be a limited edition collection and sold in Chanel boutiques, online (unfortunately not for Holland) and selected department stores.

I really think that this collection of nail polishes fits perfectly in this Fall's trending colors and would love to get my hands on these colors.

I have a short trip planned to Paris soon. I adore Paris and I simply love how Parisians dress. It has a certain je ne sais quoi. And since no trip to Paris is complete without any Chanel (at least for me that is) I felt inspired to put some Parisian style and something Chanel in my outfit.

Oh, and I finally managed to get my hands on the September issue of Vogue US. I went to the book store so many times and it took forever for it to hit the stores here in Holland, but finally got it today! Yay! :)

Camel has always been one of my favorite colors. So you can imagine how thrilled I was when I saw Chloé's gorgeous Fall/Winter 2010 ad campaign and collection! I have always liked Chloé, but this year I really think that they have surpassed themselves. I love the colors they have used (apart from camel), how they combined different fabrics and mix masculine with elegant female items.

And don't you just love these gorgeous pictures of the ad campaign?

Unfortunately Chloé is well above my budget, but I will definitely keep it in mind as inspiration when I'm shopping for Fall items! >

I'm sorry for the lack of texts today! I had a bachelorette party yesterday for my bff who is getting married next weekend. We had so much fun and a bit too much to drink which has led to my lack of inspiration today.
